The hunt is on, only in this version, Dan and Sam are hunting snow monsters or maybe just their babysitter. Either way, this is serious business! Mike stated in an interview with PopMalt that he likes to incorporate large round objects behind the subjects of his Calvin and Hobbes pieces. The moon in the background served this purpose very well.

TV’s Arrow may be based on the Green Arrow Comics, but did you know the show is about to take a big left turn into the world of a six year old kid’s imagination? If Calvin is Green Arrow in this homage piece, does that make Rosalyn, his babysitter, Black Canary? Probably not, based on the Calvin we know from Watterson’s world, but perhaps in some alternate universe out there somewhere, Calvin learned later in life that Rosalyn really did have his back.

While not quite in the same category as the other duos in the homage series, for those who felt that “It’s a magical world, Hobbes”, didn’t quite bring the happy ending you desired for the series, this piece is for you. While they were practically arch enemies in the strip, in this piece, many years down the road of life, Calvin and Suzie locked it up and lived happily ever after.

Though Mike S. Miller has created quite a few Calvin and Hobbes homage pieces, he doesn’t want to be known as merely “the guy who just doesCalvin and Hobbesknock-offs”. He loves doing them, and plans to continue to make more in the future. While he does all kinds of other very impressive art, he’s always up for custom commissioned Calvin and Hobbes style pieces too. Mike S. Miller has been drawing since he was a child in Hawaii, and has been a professional comic book artist for the past 23 years. His more notable work of late includes DC Comics’ Injustice: Gods Among Us (the #1 digital comic in the world right now), A Game of Thrones prequel series, George R. R. Martin’s Dunk and Egg stories, The Hedge Knight, it’s sequel, The Sworn Sword, and the third story which he’s currently working on, The Mystery Knight. He also drew covers for the graphic novel series A Game of Thrones, based on the official book series.
