Kygo’s New Album ‘Golden Hour’ Drops Friday

The Master of Tropical House returns with ‘Golden Hour’

It’s almost June, and Friday marks the arrival of Kygo’s brand new album, just in time for summer. As the world slowly begins to open back up, the new LP comes at a time when people are longing to hear new melodies that will bring them back into a state of normalcy. And, it’s never hard for the Norwegian producer to lift our spirits either. His up-tempo Tropical House anthems of ‘Freedom’ are just what the doctor ordered.

‘Golden Hour’ features a generous 18 tracks, 6 of which have already been released as singles. December’s ‘Higher Love’ showcases a posthumous collaboration with the late Whitney Houston, while this month’s ‘Lose Somebody’ links up with OneRepublic once again. The ‘Rescue Me’ band will perform with the 28-year-old DJ on Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series this Friday—the same day as the album release. The performance will also include Valerie Broussard, who provided vocals to Kygo’s ‘The Truth.’

Kygo also announced Golden Hour Festival today on social media—a livestream event taking place on launch day to celebrate the album with other artists.

If all that wasn’t enough, the album’s website contains fresh Palm Tree Crew merch perfect for 2020 beach vibes, while also hosting videos of Kygo in the studio revealing secrets on how some of his recent music was created. One of the videos shows the production behind ‘I’ll Wait’ with up-and-comer Sasha Sloan.

Another video gives an inside look into ‘Forever Yours,’ a tribute to Swedish EDM giant Avicii, who passed away in April 2018. Kygo tells of the huge influence that Avicii had on his own career explaining that, “his music was the reason why I started making electronic music.” We’re happy to see Kygo carry on the EDM legacy well.

‘Golden Hour’ is available everywhere this Friday, May 29th.
