5. Star Wars: Han Solo and Chewbacca
If Calvin was a space man and Hobbes was a Wookie, the series might have taken a very different turn. Space-Man Spiff, of course, always felt a little more Star Trek than Star Wars. Nevertheless, this Han and Chewie piece captures the essence of their relationship in that classic Calvin and Hobbes style. All they’re missing is a nice warm house to go home to with a fireplace and a few Christmas stockings hung for Santa.
4. Batman, er (Stupendous Man) and Gargoyle
We’re in the darker recesses of Calvin’s mind now. This stuff is straight out of DC comics or perhaps the Christopher Nolan’s trilogy. When speaking with Mike about the project, he said that this piece always brings to mind Calvin’s alter ego Stupendous Man.
3. Game of Thrones: Arya and Hound
Would Calvin ever leave Hobbes bloody and dying? Well, Calvin did beat the tar out of Hobbes on a number of occasions, but left to die though? Nah. Not Calvin. They’d always forgive and forget the very next day.
