Many people joke about "the" impending revolution, however would these/you people fight against it?

I'm one of those who jokes about the impending revolution. It's a joke because I know it won't happen because people have been lulled into complacency by their love of things and asinine tv shows.

It's also a joke because I know it could never work (socialism on a grand scale); I just wish that Capitalism wasn't so conducive to exploitation. Money is power - those who have money have power; those who have no money have no power.

That said, when the Revolution does come I will not let them put my favorite Capitalist against the wall first ;)

Whoever could that be?:p

If and when it would ever happen, yes, I would fight against. I find socialism to be inherently evil. So yes, I would fight against it.

Like many 'isms' I think capitalism is widely misunderstood. However, the country is not under a strict form of capitalism anymore. Not when Washington and Big Business 69 on a daily basis and in public without any real dissent from the citizenry anyways. I wouldn't fight a revolution against it, I would fight a revolution against the growing invasions of privacy that people are simply allowing to happen.

It is unfortunate that the various levels of government within the United States have gone beyond their limited power and given certain businesses advantages over others, limiting competition. That is partially why we are in this economic mess we're in.

I would fight against a revolution against capitalism. While this goes without saying on my part, I would fight a revolution for FREER capitalism.

Depends who is more authoritarian, and who respects human rights more, the socialist revolutionaries or the capitalists in power.

(And no, socialism is not inevitably more authoritarian than capitalism. The American slavery-based economy of the 18th and 19th century, or modern dictatorships like that of Franco, Hitler or Pinochet were capitalist systems, yet were far more authoritarian than many socialist systems.)

Correct, Sim. China is more or less a capitalist country with an abhorrent authoritarian government. Liberalism is also necessary. Capitalism and a liberal society should go hand-in-hand.

As far as I'm concerned we lack a sufficient free market to prosper. I would rather fight for free market capitalism than suffer under a crony capitalism/socialism.

That is exactly what I meant by a freer capitalism.
