In your opinion, who do you believe is going to be Romney's running mate?

Poll attached.

I think Romney will ask and beg Marco Rubio, but I just don't see Rubio going for it. 2012 will be Rubio's chance to shine in the Senate. I doubt he would give that up for VP. I'd love to see Luis Fortuño, but Romney's never going to do anything out of the box.

I'd say Mitch Daniels or Eric Cantor.

Hell, It's about time!
It will either be Gingrich or Santorum. I don't really see any of the people on the poll as viable candidates. He needs to attract the 30% conservative base.

It's really tough for me to guess on this one, so I took a shot in the dark and said Paul Ryan. I think that he's a figure that may be able to somewhat appease the further right Repub. vote that is hesitant about Mitt Romney's more center-of-the-aisle items in his background. I originally was going to pick Newt Gingrich, but for some reason after the way it went between Romney, him, and Santorum towards the end I just can't see it happening.

I think that a sleeper choice that could elicit some popularity and success for Romney would be Ron Paul. But knowing Paul he'd probably decline lol.

Ryan is pretty solid and I think Ryan would want the spot.

Me neither. I understand there's always a fight-reconciliation process, but Santorum and Newt both seem to really not like Romney. Plus Newts a flake and Romney is too calculated to do that.

I think the golden ring of VP would be Jim DeMint. I'd bet if there's anyone they are already courting it would be DeMint and Rubio. At first I think DeMint wouldn't take the spot because he's got too much to lose. I also know from talking to DeMint personally that he declined a run for the White House because he didn't want to put his family through the hell of a campaign. But DeMint is a term limits guy and he will not run again in 2016 so if he wants to stay in politics, the VP spot is the only path. I've never in my life been giddy over a VP, but if DeMint was selected I would take my shirt off and paint Romney/Demint on my back and run through town.

Ok you definitely made me laugh with that last part. I'm going to hold you to that, man.

As someone who's a right wing outsider myself, I don't know a ton about Jim DeMint. And I do follow politics relatively closely, he's just someone I haven't heard a lot about lately. When it comes to independents I wonder if this would be a potential barrier to DeMint as a choice just because of how the overall ticket would look somewhat "eh." If that makes any sense...I think that someone young and relatively known will be selected, but I could be wrong.

There are a lot of strategic reasons for DeMint. He's from the South, he's Mr. TeaParty. None of that means anything next to he's genuine. He's about the only politician in power that is the real deal. Even if you don't agree with the guy there's just nothing about DeMint that you can look at and say "He said he was against this, but he did that"

He's against earmarks, so he never earmarks a bill. Even though SC desperately needs the port of Charleston deepened and everyone from the Republican governor down has begged DeMint to earmark it. Even though Republicans and Democrats block it he pushes for Charleston expansion w/o using earmarks.

He's pro-term limit so he won't run in 2016.

He's against energy subsidies so he forced Republicans to vote on ending tax breaks to oil companies and Democrats to vote on ending funding for green energy.

As I said you may not agree with him and that's fine, the guy's real charm though is he's a good, decent guy. He doesn't flip-flop or compromise his principles. He's really Mr. Smith Goes to Washington when it comes to character. Oddly he even kinda looks like Jimmy Steward.

I love the guy. He's on local radio every month and I always try to get through. There's just not anyone else quite like DeMint.

Its clear who the Obama team doesn't want as Romney's VP: Axelrod: Rubio as VP would ?insult? Hispanics | Washington Free Beacon
“I think it would be an insult to the Hispanic community to choose Senator Rubio if the thinks that that is somehow—if Governor Romney thinks that’s sort of a get-out-of-jail-free card for all of the things and the positions that he’s taken,” Mr. Axelrod said.
What a stupid, desperate, racialist thing to say. Obama's team is scared to death of Rubio because he's likable and a great orator.

I still don't know if Rubio will say yes, but its clear he's the number one choice to a lot of people.

Ann Romney says there is a woman in the VP mix. Must be Nikki Hailey. She was all into Romney during the SC primaries. I can't imagine Romney selecting her though.

I agree, that's a pretty stupid and desperate thing to say, and it does border on racist. I would love to see Rubio as the VP candidate but I'm not sure he would say yes if asked.
