Okay here's my preview of today's game 2. Pitching matchup LAD: RHP Derek Lowe (7-5, 3.88 ERA) On the rebound from a rough outing in Minnesota, Lowe kept his club in the game in his last start of the first half, although he needed 96 pitches to get through five innings, allowing leadoff hits in three of the frames. He's been unable to reach the sixth inning in three of his last five starts. STL: RHP Chris Carpenter (7-4, 3.08 ERA) The All-Star tossed eight-plus innings in his last appearance against the Astros, using his full arsenal, including fastball, curveball and changeup. Expect Carpenter to work deep in the game Friday night. He has worked at least seven innings in five of his last six starts. Player to watch: Garciaparra carries a 22-game hit streak into Friday's contest. Garciaparra is equally lethal against left-handers and right-handers, hitting over .340 against righties. He also has had success against Carpenter, one of the best right-handers in the game, hitting .324 (11-for-34) with a homer and five RBIs.
