The Official St. Louis Cardinals vs Chicago Cubs thread 29/07/06

Okay here's my preview of today's game 3.

Pitching matchup
STL: RHP Anthony Reyes (2-4, 4.57 ERA)
Reyes is still adjusting to pitching in the Major Leagues, as he tries to incorporate a two-seam sinker into his fastball-curveball-changeup arsenal. He's also learning to walk the line between missing bats and pitching to contact. He remains something of a work in progress, but the promise is obvious.

CHC: RHP Greg Maddux (8-11, 4.83 ERA)
Maddux finally won a start, albeit one that he admits was ugly. The 40-year-old righty tossed six innings of 10-hit ball in the Cubs' 8-7 victory against the Mets on July 24. The win was Maddux's first since June 9, when he beat the Reds, 6-5.

Player to watch
So Taguchi will get a start in the outfield on Saturday, and he's hit Maddux well. Taguchi is 5-for-12 (.417) with a double and a walk in his career against Maddux.
