The Red Sox keep doing it. Low risk, high reward. Saito was an above average closer when healthy...if not brilliant.

I can see why the Red Sox wanted Sammy (The nickname us Dodger fans gave him). He had a GREAT first three years of his major league career. He has rang up a 12-7 record, with a 1.95 ERA and 81 saves in 91 opportunites, with a whopping 245 strikeouts in just 189.2 innings. Prior to him spraining his elbow last year, he threw a very lively 91-95 MPH fastball with great life, it was very difficult to make contact against. He also threw a very, very nasty hard slider, which he has impeccable command of. After he came back from the injury, however, his fastball topped out at 90 MPH and his slider lost some sharpness. The Red Sox are gambling on the pre-injury Saito, but you never kno, as elbow injuries can linger for some guys.
