Songs Thats Calm You...

Well-Known Member
So I have a play list on my iTunes that I call the "Calm Mix". Pretty much it's an assortment of music from various artists that have their "slow down" or just "mellow" songs on their albums. I'd like to know if anyone else has something similar to this, just a personal play list that they listen to when you're stressed, sad, unsure about something or even just trying to relax. Here are a few that I have, share if you'd like. I'd like to add more to my collection:

Superchick - We Live

O.A.R - Shattered
YouTube - O.A.R. - Shattered

Bryan Adams - Everything I Do (I Do it for you)

Final Fantasy X OST

Leona Lewis - Take A Bow

(If there's already a thread about this, I guess just merge it or close this one. Just in case).

Songs that calm me, probably wouldn't calm others...

YouTube - Joe Budden - Inseparable

I listened to this over & over after my break-up with Jasz, mainly the third verse. It was the only thing that kept my mind from racing.

I'm like, damn, how you always know better than me?
Amazes me when you show me what I never could see
So the break up never really was a plan to me
In retrospect, I think I was complacent with insanity
We were so exhausted, bored with, tortured
But since I couldn't picture my life without you, I fought it
Like we could get through anything, it's too much pride in us
Better off without each other, I'd have been deprivin' us
At times you see people in ways you shouldn't portray 'em
'Cause they ain't livin' up to a title you shouldn't of gave 'em
Head shot, point blank range, committed murder
Honestly thought I couldn't move on, then went further
Used to want to see you suffer for that pain you caused
Now when I see you gain, I applaud
What I'm tryin' to say is, don't complain about your path and where it took you
'Cause you might end up with somebody to sing this hook to

I don't think I could've wrote it better myself.

YouTube - Joe Budden - 1000 Faces

There's something about "emo rap" that really soothes me, especially Joe Budden.

Here are a few more...

YouTube - Joe Budden Ft. Emanny - Stuck In The Moment (Full Version)

YouTube - Joe Budden - Black Cloud

YouTube - Joe Budden - Calm Down (With Lyrics)

yellow 4!
I never really calm myself down with music, but a lot of my favourite songs do come with that effect, I suppose. I'll go grab some...

YouTube - Europa - Santana studio version

YouTube - A Whiter Shade Of Pale - Procol Harum

YouTube - Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel - The Sounds of Silence Lyrics

love this:
YouTube - Smile - Cover (Day 25)

YouTube - John Lennon - Watching The Wheels

YouTube - the flaming lips all we have is now

YouTube - Elvis Presley - Love Me Tender

YouTube - Dire Straits-Why Worry

YouTube - Bob Marley- Three Little Birds (With Lyrics!)

Some of my favourites by the Beatles are calming, such as Blackbird, Across the Universe, and Something.

4 legs good 2 legs bad

still nobody's bitch
Nice choices, Ivan!

When I'm stressed and in a grouchy mood, mellow songs will only make it worse. I tend to put on Tool or System of a Down or KoRn when I'm feeling ornery.

When I want mellow music, it's Neil Young's Rust Never Sleeps (the whole album) or Ray LaMontagne's Trouble or something like that.

Embrace the Suck
It can vary from genre to genre. I love listening to Pavoratti, especially Ave Maria and Nessun Dorma. I find him very relaxing. I'll also listen to bands such as Dire Straits. I also love Stone Sour's Hesitate, that to me is a pretty calming song.
