WOW...wonder what channel will take over Smackdown?

Friday Night Smackdown will cease to air on The CW at the end of the 2007-08 television season, which concludes in late August. WWE issued the following press release earlier tonight, which can also been seen on Yahoo's Business page at this link:

WWE(R) SmackDown(R) Leaves CW
Thursday February 7, 11:47 pm ET
STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The following statement was issued today by World Wrestling Entertainment®:

After a successful decade of “SmackDown” on both UPN and The CW, World Wrestling Entertainment and The CW have agreed to conclude our partnership. Since The CW’s exclusive negotiation period ran out as of last Thursday, January 31, we have been contacted and have been in negotiations with other networks. “WWE SmackDown” will continue to air on The CW until the conclusion of the 2007-08 broadcast season. We are grateful to Les Moonves, Dawn Ostroff, and their entire organization for bringing “WWE SmackDown” to millions of viewers for so many years

I wonder if they'll rename the show when they move it. It would be a kick in the balls for The Rock if that happened. I've always considered the show to be kind of a tribute to him.

I don't see why they would change the name. It was Smackdown on UPN before it changed to CW. I think they'll just be looking for a different provider. Hopefully a network that I get...
