I used to have the same religious beliefs, and I have similar a political stance.

Not really. My parents are more traditional conservatives. I'm more of a libertarian constitutional conservative. We disagree on some issues.

Religiously my stepmom is Lutheran... my dad isn't really religious. If anything I am sort of an Evangelical Christian w/ Catholic beliefs. I really formed them on my own.

I broke away from my parents' religious beliefs in my early teens, or maybe even a little before that. Politically, I'm totally different than they are. I'm extremely liberal while they're maybe a little right of center.

I think it's silly to have certain beliefs just because your parents do. I know a lot of it has to do with how you're raised and the culture you grow up in, but ultimately you have to start thinking for yourself instead of blindly believing or thinking certain things just because that's what you were taught. When it comes to religion you could almost call it brainwashing.

I agree. I was a Republican drone when I left my parents house... then I did some research myself. I discovered that I don't care for either party... which is why I consider myself a Libertarian now.

Nope.

My parents are catholic, although I consider only my dad to be a practicing one. I went to catholic school when I was young, but I distanced myself from it, on and off (mostly off), during High School. Been atheist for a few years now, just like my brothers.

My political stance is different as well. My parents are a-political. They used to vote what my brother told them to (socialist party). My bro stayed true to his beliefs (the typical lefty ideals you find among teachers and students). I turned into the conservative, nationalist direction. For the european voting my mom voted for the socialists, my dad for the greens and me for the populist right.
I haven't told them though, cause I'm afraid I'll get shit for it. I'm fairly sure my brother wouldn't forgive me for voting what I did.

Yeah, you may find this hard to believe, but I registered as a Republican when I turned 18, probably because that's what my parents were. Wasn't until a few years later that I started looking into things myself and making my own choices and I became more and more liberal.

My parents forced me to be catholic, even though, personally, I knew there wasn't a god. I was confirmed last year and now I never go to church.

I don't really know how much I disagree with my parents on in politics. I know they only believe in same sex marriage if it isn't called marriage, but I think anyone should be able to get married.

Yeah kind of. My parents got a long with everyone regardless of where they were from and weren't racist or anything. I'm the same way.

As far as religion, my mom was Muslim my dad was Eastern Orthodox I was raised Muslim for the first part of my childhood, but I consider myself agnostic.
