The 217th rule states, "You can't free a fish from water."

What do you think is metaphorically meant by this rule and is there anything to it?

    Discuss rule 217.

The fish cannot live outside of water because it will die. Perhaps it is saying something about attachment, how some people simply cannot be pulled away from the things that help them live or else, in some way or another, they will die. To use an expected example, people who are very religious simply know no other way than their faith. A fish will never decide one day that it wants to see what's outside the water just like someone of strong faith will never say, "What if?"

You are on the right track with the statement regarding attachment. That was the context it was cited in.
