Ridnour Demoted In Sonics' Overhaul Of Lineup

Seattle's 10-game road losing streak going into the game didn't prompt coach Bob Hill to blow up the starting lineup as much as the team's performance in the first quarter of the previous three games.

"When you lose [10] in a row, you've got to do something," he said. "But honestly, we've gotten off to slow starts. That's it."

Because of the slow starts, Hill inserted three new starters and demoted point guard Luke Ridnour, who lost his job to Earl Watson. Nick Collison and rookie Mickael Gelabale, a first-time starter, joined Ray Allen and Chris Wilcox in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Golden State at Oracle Arena.

Aw, Here It Goes!
Man Luke is one of my favorite point guards, this really pisses me off that he's on the bench, does Bob Hill really think Earl is better. Times like this I wish Nate McMillian was still coach of the Sonics.

This is such a stupid move, Ridnour is one of the best point guards in the league, and he's more of a pass first shoot second then Watson, and you need that when you have a scorer like Allen. I know you need to do changes when your team is struggling but this is not one of them.

This is what Bob Hill is trying to accomplish by benching Luke/Wilkins:

Lenny WIlkens blocked Bob Hill's attempt to sign Penny Hardaway to a 10-day contract. And what aspect of the team DOES Hill have control over that Wilkens doesnt? The line-up.

He is just pouting and playing the ultimatum card.
