3B Will Middlebrooks was sent from Boston to San Diego for C Ryan Hanigan who was just acquired the other day as part of the WIl Myers deal from Tampa Bay. Red Sox had tired of Middlebrooks, after a huge fall off in production over his first year, failure to play through nagging injuries and then refusing to play winter ball his ticket was punched. Hanigan is a very good defensive backstop and will be paired with Christian Vazquez, who is the starter.
The move also takes the Red Sox out of re-signing C David Ross who looks like will he sign with Chicago now.
