It appears as though the Rangers could be opening the 2008-09 season across the Pond in Europe, according to New York Newsday.

TFP reported earlier in the season that the league was contemplating opening the 08-09 campaign in Czech Republic and the 09-10 season in Sweden. The paper claims the NHL is close to having four teams open next season in both countries. Newsday reports the Rangers might face off against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Prague, while the Ottawa Senators could play the Pittsburgh Penguins in Stockholm.

Supposedly, the NHL would like to have at least four teams play in Europe each season.
The Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks kicked off this year, with two games in London, England.
