It's the thread for music that utilizes the rock band toolset of instruments, but shies away from verse-chrous-verse and hooks, and instead goes off the deep end.

Dunno. We def needa let Kaz call that.

Sweet thread idea! Creative music. Big ups.

K. I've heard some really bomb tracks from Explosions in the Sky, Isis, and Cult of Luna. I had a chance to hear Pelican too but I missed it. The other 2 I'm not familiar with but I'll def be listening to anything posted in this thread! :D

For post rock, I've been all over God is an Astronaut and Mew. For post metal, it's Deftones and Tool. And the list is huge for avant-garde. Agalloch, Townsend, Sun O))), Genghis Tron, Isis, Meshuggah, and Animals as Leaders are def way up there.
I've been all over The Chariot too but I think they're basically mathcore.

This is the 1st track I ever heard from Tool and I was totally impressed! It's from their 2001 album, Lateralus.

And I totally love the Deftones. They're like my go-to for post metal.
