Porn may be messing with your head

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Men who report watching a lot of pornography tend to have less volume and activity in regions of the brain linked to rewards and motivation, says a new German study.

Porn may be messing with your head
They do admit this study is inconclusive mainly because they don't know if watching too much porn causes decrease in brain matter and activity or if their test subjects were that way to begin with. I have read several studies though that say porn addiction can cause ED even in young men and Viagra may not help. So possibly this is the link why it can cause ED.

Thoughts?

New study? I heard the same thing in almost those exact words years ago. There's nothing new about it. I think it's something that could have been figured out without doing any kind of study on it.

I don't think the viewing of porn is a scientific issue. Sure, there are effects that can be measured by doing tests and studies but at the end of the day it's really a moral issue in my view. Now, I know a lot of people disagree with me on that and think viewing porn is fine. You're entitled to your own viewpoint but this is the way I see it.

In my opinion, if you're single, porn is really your only outlet. Personally though, I stick to reading erotic stories as opposed to watching videos or looking at pictures though because I believe its true that watching too much porn can raise your expectations of what to expect when you're actually with a woman. If its big exaggerated breasts that get a rise out of you, than eventually anything less than that won't. As with anything, its moderation that counts.

Lets face it too much of anything isn't good for you. In this case it might not be good for a man physically or their relationship especially if it causes ED or your wife starts feeling like the porn is more important to her husband than she is.

I wonder if a guy stopped watching porn if this would reverse itself. I know I have read that with porn induced ED it can take months with no porn viewing what so ever for things to return to normal.

So what exactly is wrong with watching porn? I've yet to hear a good argument against this to be honest with you.

I read a few months ago about a large Reddit community that was breaking the addition to porn and the affects in had on them before and after the addition.
Pornography’s Stunning Impact Visualized in a Single Infographic — and What Happened When Some Chose to Give It Up | TheBlaze.com

Its an interesting study. I was shocked to see what happens to young kids when they are exposed to porn. Also the example Hilander gave of a married couple is a huge problem that I've seen more than once.

Our morals are different so I can't really argue with you on that. I see it as morally wrong, you don't, is there anything else to discuss?

That's a very interesting article. I knew the number was high but I had no idea that so many people considered themselves to be addicted. You can probably put the number even just a bit higher than that because some people would refuse to admit to addiction (even in an anonymous survey) if they were.

What porn? This thread is worthless without pictures!
Well I must have a lot of rewards and motivations since I never see any...

That article was very interesting MIT, thanks for posting it.

I didn't realize how many people were addicted to porn. Yes your real relationship can suffer and it can end it when your girlfriend decides to seek out someone else that doesn't have these problems.

I wonder if men in relationships are more likely to cheat if they are porn addicted.

I'm not high and mighty on this issue. I had a preacher tell me that any man that says he doesn't have a problem with this in some respects is probably lying. Its tough being a guy in today's world.
