Poems

I'd thought I'd make an are for forum members to share some poems that they like or find inspirations, moving, touching, etc. Poems are another form of expression that the writer creates, maybe to distract others from a harsh reality to a more serene one. Just pose a poem that you like to share with the others, simple enough.

In and Out of Time
Maya Angelou

"The sun has come.
The mist has gone.
We see in the distance...
our long way home.
I was always yours to have.
You were always mine.
We have loved each other in and out of time.
When the first stone looked up at the blazing sun
and the first tree struggled up from the forest floor
I had always loved you more.
You freed your braids...
gave your hair to the breeze.
It hummed like a hive of honey bees.
I reached in the mass for the sweet honey comb there....
God...how I love your hair.
You saw me bludgeoned by circumstance.
Lost, injured, hurt by chance.
I screamed to the heavens....loudly screamed....
Trying to change our nightmares to dreams...
The sun has come.
The mist has gone.
We see in the distance our long way home.
I was always yours to have.
You were always mine.
We have loved each other in and out
in and out
in and out
of time."

The Trees Of Jade
Li Po

It snowed, that night, in the garden
of Liang. I was cold and
you were quite unconscious of it.

Tonight, I watched the the trees of jade
under which, in days gone by, i used
to wait for you.

i'd really hate to see this thread die, so here's another poem for everybody.

Mooses Come Walking
by Arlo Guthrie
Mooses come walking up over the hill.
Mooses come walking. They rarely stand still
When mooses come walking, they walk where they will.
And mooses come walking up over the hill.

Mooses look into your window at night.
They look to the left and they look to the right
The mooses are smiling; they think it’s a zoo.
That’s why the mooses like looking at you.

So, if you see mooses while lying in bed,
It’s best to just stay there, pretending you’re dead.
The mooses will leave, and you’ll get the thrill
Of seeing the mooses go over the hill
