Phillies signed LHP Cole Hamels to a three-year, $20.5 million contract.

After making $500,000 last season, Hamels will receive $4.35 million in 2009, $6.65 million in 2010, and $9.5 million in 2011. A "Super-Two" player, Hamels will also be arbitration-eligible a fourth time in 2012 before becoming a free agent. Though he answered questions about his durability last season with 227 1/3 innings, the deal provides insurance against further injury. The Phillies gain cost certainty over the World Series MVP's first three arbitration seasons.
Hamels is one of the best lefties in the biz. He gets a payraise but it could have been a ton more. He's still REALLY young though.

Very good thing that the Phillies were able to re-sign him, like Millz mentioned he's one of the best lefties in the Majors. He also has the drive and determanation of becoming the best, and in my opinion he'll be one of the best in the Majors in a couple of seasons, if it's not next year.
