Operation American Spring

This was a hilarious story I heard about yesterday. These people were expecting "10 million to 30 million" protesters to take to the streets in Washington today in an effort to force President Obama and others out of office, and if they refused to leave office they were planning to throw them in jail.

Self-styled revolutionary patriots plan to converge on Washington, D.C., this week to drive President Barack Obama and disloyal lawmakers out of office.

“We are calling for the removal of Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Harry Reid, Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, Nancy Pelosi, and Eric Holder as a start toward constitutional restoration,” said retired Army Col. Harry Riley, leader of the Operation American Spring protest group. “They have all abandoned the US Constitution, are unworthy to be retained in a position that calls for servant status.”

Operation American Spring aims to pressure those lawmakers who remain – or are replaced by officials of their own choosing – “to sponsor and pass very Constitutionally crafted State legislation to dissolve the size, powers, scope and spending of the U.S. Government by 2/3rds.”

The activists say they expect 10 million to 30 million like-minded Americans to join them Friday in the nation’s capital for a rally patterned after Occupy Wall Street and “Arab Spring” protests.

They also plan a sister event the same day in Bunkerville, Nevada, where militia groups have gathered to support scofflaw rancher Cliven Bundy in his dispute with the federal government.

I haven't heard much about this today. Maybe the White House is keeping Obama's removal a secret.

Oh wait...

Operation American Spring falls flat: 'This is very disappointing,' Texan says - Washington Times

Operation American Spring, billed as a Friday morning multi-million patriot march on Washington, D.C., to oust leadership from the nation’s capital — from President Obama to House Speaker John Boeher — has proven woefully below expectations.
“It’s a very dismal turnout,” said Jackie Milton, 61, a Jacksboro, Texas, resident and the head of Texans for Operation American Spring, to The Washington Times. He said hopes were high when he arrived in Alexandria, Va., a day or so ago and found motels and hotels were sold out for 30 miles around.
But weather’s dampened turnout a bit, he said.
“We were getting over two inches of rain in hour in parts of Virginia this morning,” Mr. Milton said. “Now it’s a nice sunny day. But this is a very poor turnout. It ain’t no millions. And it ain’t looking like there’s going to be millions. Hundreds is more like it.”
I'm shocked!!!!

I was really really happy to learn that there arent 10-30 million nutjobs in America. :stare:
I mean I dont agree with everything thats happening but tearing up the government would make everything 1000000000000000x worse.
If they really wanna clean up a White House then send them to Detroit. Theres lots of really gross white houses there.

I don't know what's funnier. That they thought they were going to imprison Obama, or that they said they would stay there as long as it takes and do whatever is necessary, yet blame the low turnout on bad weather. So 10-30 million people were supposedly prepared to protest for days or weeks, but they don't show up because of some rain?

I can't believe they think its a good idea to do away with all federal taxes.

Go home military America will be safe without you.

Can you imagine the chaos that would ensue if they did run all the politicians out of Washington. I'm not saying things are great now but it could be much worse. Might be fighting each other like in Ukraine.

I honestly appreciate the attempt at making something happen, it's a luxury not a lot of countries have. Protesting, that is.

That being said, there's definitely a serious shade of lunacy with this. Chemtrails? Really guys?

Movements like this, large groups of nuts, lunatics and conspiracy theorists, will be the movements of the future.

Before there was the internet, these numerous nuts (and I think they're not less than 20% of the population in every Western country, on some issues even much more) were isolated and didn't have a voice, because the mainstream media, papers and tv, didn't take them seriously, because professional journalists are generally more educated than the average and forced to provide at least a minimum of backup for their claims, unless they want to be fired.

But since the internet has become mainstream, these nuts suddenly realize they're not alone and there are many of them, and they start organizing. We'll see many protests and movements in the future, not of people who actually are oppressed, but by paranoid people who irrationally feel being oppressed although they aren't, depending on the respective conspiracy theory that's en vogue.

Some mainstream media outlets realized they can make money with that demographic, that's how FOX News came into existence. They now provide conspiracy nuts an additional platform -- as long as the paranoia, conspiracy theories, the falsehoods and deliberate lies are against liberals, at least. Is Obama a fascist? Is he a socialist or communist? Was he even born in America? Is he the anti-Christ? Is he a racist? Does Obama erect concentration camps? Is Obama a Muslim? Has he a secret agenda to sell America to the Muslims? And so on ...

And no, I'm not aware anything of that magnitude exists on the left. Sure, many far-leftists are just like that, the same kind of nuts and similarly paranoid, and would engage in similar conspiracy theories about the right -- but at least they have no mainstream platform.

Will freedom and republicanism survive this new type of lunacy and ignorance? Remains to be seen ...

Really? NEVER have I heard such nonsense from Fox News. What's funny is as soon as I read this OP the other day I laughed to myself and wondered just how long Fox News would somehow be tied into this. What's odd is on one hand the claim is 20% of the population is crazy like this THEN the most popular news agency is tied in. By that logic IF Fox News is somehow tied to this wouldn't that 20% number be higher? Wouldn't there have been MILLIONS at this "protest" if their viewers subscribed to this lunacy? The claim is so devoid of logic, it's actually funny. Never mind the fact the has NOTHING to do with those silly claims of Obama is Muslim or any other nonsense. If one would actually take the time to read the piece one would see they also are calling for Boehner, McConnell and Cantor to resign, three Republicans. They are upset at how bad our government is...it's that simple.

If they would stop with the nonsense claims they might get more people behind them. When you hear them say some of the things they have you stop paying attention to them, your write them off as nuts.

Obviously. It's still a mystery however what these nutjobs and their claims have to do with a news source. These guys are fed up, just like I am. These guys want just about everybody in Washington gone and replaced just like I do. It's obvious they are nuts though based on their claims. If more people cared however and would vote, and vote for candidates that can make real change, we wouldn't be in this mess.
