I hope this isn't true. Apparently Amy Winehouse is supposed to be recording the song for the newest Bond movie "Quantum of Solace" due out in November of this year.

IGN: No Solace for Winehouse

Oh please no....

I want to see more stuff like what Chris Cornell brought to the table. I definitely do not want to have to listen to Amy Winehouse or even think about her music influencing a Bond movie in any way...

Amy Winehouse...? Serious? Oh jeez... Garbage did awsome, as did almost all the others. Whoever recorded the last bond song was horrible though. I wish they only could pick someone better...female singers are great, I actually prefer them but her? I don't like her.... /rambling >.>

Edit: it said she may not actually get it done....thank gods.

What you didn't like the Casino Royale Bond song Lithium?!!!

That's my 2nd favorite Bond song of all time second only to Tomorrow Never Dies.

But yeah I saw that Amy Winehouse might not be able to do the song. I sure hope not. She doesn't need to be connected to the Bond franchise in any way. It's bad enough that I even had to make this thread. :)

And Spacker, did you see the newest Bond movie though? It's taking the series in a whole new direction and it really is going to get much better from here on out if you ask me.

Honestly? I didn't think he was 'bond enough' I didn't liek the song much, but even other bond songs I don't like fit the movie. I don't think he did, really. Sounded like the found a random song that fit the general theme and stuffed it in at the last second. Never the less that didn't stop me from buying the movie to keep up my 'I own every Bond film, even the one off the canon.' line....

The World Is Not Enough, Live and Let Die, and The Spy Who Loved Me. Now those are bond songs.

TWINE was good as well. Did you like Tomorrow Never Dies? I thought that really hit the Bond mark as well.

I thought that about "You know my name" as well though... it had that spy ring to it. Plus you realize that David Arnold (Bond Composer) helps compose the title songs for these movies (at least since TND). That's why he fits in the main song theme into the rest of the movie as well.

That's one reason I don't want an Amy Winehouse song in any Bond movie ever. I don't want her music interwoven into an entire Bond movie. Especially one with such high potential of being really good.

Agreed on Winehouse. And yeah, I like most of the bond songs. some less than others. But Tomorrow Never Dies was good too. Everything or Nothing, wasn't a movie, but was done like one... though EoN's was a good song too...but anyway, as I said. CR just didn't click for me. and lol @ the song producer, he's what...seen over like not even 1/4th of the entire films? he may be good but that argument hardly stands as there are so many MORE films without him.

I'm really not a fan of his work. Although he is a good singer. I watched an interview with him ,where he was asked what the lyrics were about and he really struggled to answer it. He didn't seem enthusiastic.

The series is improving, I admit. But they keep following the same generic plots of anti-terrorism, usually a non-western badguy with a scar or distinguishing feature, and they've been to afraid to mess with their franchise to actually do anything original.
But yeah, Casino Royale was much better, but only started picking up the pieces. I just feel that they've milked it dry already. They'd have to do alot to exceed peoples expectations next time round. (Amy whinehouse certainly won't do it )

Live and Let Die, A view to a Kill.. and Living Daylights were the best ones, imo.

..what's up with this "modern Bond" thing, anyway. ..-It's 3am, and Bond is hard at work catching nuclear terrorists. By sifting through endless streams of surveillance camera- footage. "Is that a dead pixel!", Bond wonders, "Or is it a computer- virus! I'll better get diagnostics up here right away!"
