Yay, celebrity news ftw. Can't get enough. Startlingly, though, none other than the staunchly lib Huffington Post ran this story back in June when it happened, and didn't offer much by way of defending the President's motives: Gerald Walpin: Obama Removes AmeriCorps's IG
Stuff like this doesn't hit the news because it's considered small potatoes. Most of us (I hope) are well aware that electing a president is like choosing not one man, but a whole group of 'em. The president is obviously going to look after his men first and this story is a case of that.
It's funny how the reason for his firing vary depending on the news source. The Washington Post says that there has been a "difficult working relationship between Walpin and the Corporation for National and Community Service" and mentions a mock newsletter written by Walpin's employees and approved by him which contained "racial and sexual jokes referencing the federal procurement process and the government's use of set-aside programs for minorities and disabled veterans"
If I remember right, the real issue was you can not just fire an IG. You have to give 30 days notice and then put it before Congress. Its another complete failure of the media and Democrat controlled Congress.
