UPLAND, Calif. -- A California family says they've fired their live-in nanny, but the woman refuses to leave their home.

Nightmare nanny won't leave home, family says - CBS News
I feel sorry for this couple. It would be a nightmare having to live with someone in your home that you didn't want there. Really have to be careful who you let live with you. I'm sure they will be successful in getting her evicted but I hope for their sake it doesn't take too long.

I heard about something like this happening to someone around here. He let a young woman with a little kid move in with him, which was suppose to be temporary until she found a place, then she wouldn't leave. He couldn't make her because of the kid either. I don't know what finally happened.

I don't think I would handle it well if I couldn't get someone out of my house. I might have the electric shut off, let them live with that. Something these people might do is stop bringing food home, eat out. Let her take care of herself. If they have to provide her with food make it just the basics.

Thoughts?

Lol. That's what happens when you hire a 64 year old woman from Craigslist. Wow. How dumb can you be?

That said, I feel really bad for this family. I think your suggestion of not keeping ANY food in the house is probably a good idea. Make her leave to find food. Can't they change the locks? I don't understand how this is legal. Poor family.

I'm not sure if it would be legal to lock her out.

I have to agree hiring a 64 year old nanny off Craigslist is stupid. They should have also made her sign a contract too. I know if you work for a company and they fire you they will escort you off the property right away.

Maybe they got the paperwork right this time and can force her out.

That's exactly the thing. You have to do these things right. They probably tried to save a buck and now they are sitting with this issue. There's a reason there are agencies who arrange these kinds of jobs. Just do it right the first time. Expensive and inconvenient lesson.

Another thing I should point out is they weren't paying this woman anything. What kind of nanny do you expect to get for just room and board.

This should be in a movie lol!
I dont get why anyone would hire a nanny or a housekeeper or anything else for just room and eats. If thats all they want then they cant be very professional.
Never hire anyone without background checks and a contract. I mean what happens if she falls and has to go to the hospital. Somebody could get sued. Theres too many decent lawyers out there to take risks like that.

She was probably scared they might use her to test the fireworks lol!
But seriously what shes doing isnt helping her resume. Now that people know who she is and what she does then nobody will probably ever hire her.
