The study authors said in the abstract that the fact that these two viruses — Mollivirus and Pithovirus — were still able to infect host organisms after thousands of years in the permafrost “should be of concern in a context of global warming.”

I don't like the sound of that. With global warming thawing out permafrost we are mining in places we didn't use to exposing people to these viruses. I would hate to see a ancient virus we have no immunity to start spreading in the population.
