I've noticed that we've had several people join lately who fall under three categories:

1. You are learning English as a second language or want to perfect your English.
2. You know English but are working on another language.
3. You know several languages already.

I thought a forum like this would be helpful to people in these categories. Of course those who already know a few languages fluently probably aren't looking for help, but feel free to help others.

We have a fairly broad global appeal and there are going to be people who join from countries that do not speak English primarily. Instead of making fun of these people I thought we could be more productive with our time if we help them out.

That's what this forum is for. Please feel free to ask for help or give advice here.

So any language topic (including generic questions about the English language by its native speakers) falls under this forum from now on?

If I want to find out how many here speak French, will that be an appropriate topic for this forum?

Yep. I figured threads like those would be buried under GD so this might make more sense. We'll try this forum for a while and see how it goes.
