MLB MLB investigates Cubs for tampering

At the request of the Tampa Bay Rays, MLB has launched an investigation into whether or not the Chicago Cubs tampered with Joe Maddon. The Rays contend that Cubs made Maddon aware he'd have a spot prior to him opting out on October 23rd.

If MLB can substantiate these allegations Chicago would most likely be forced to compensate Tampa Bay in some form with either players or draft picks. Also to be noted if any Chicago personnel are found to have lied about the Maddon negotiations it could lead to suspensions by MLB.

Nothing will come from this. MLB is doing this to help the Rays save face for their fans, if they have any. Sure tampering happens all the time but they are very hard to prove, unless you're the Marlins.

Wouldn't be shocked if Theo made some sort of peace offer in terms of a minor league player for the Rays to drop the complaint.

Rays are acting like this doesn't happen in every sport almost every day, maybe if they actually broke the glass ceiling and or spent money they wouldn't have lost Maddon
