Miss America drops swimsuit portion and won't judge on looks

From now on women won't have to wear the swimsuit and they won't be judged on looks.

I'm fine with it. It will allow women that aren't that perfect looking have a chance. More to a woman than her looks. However this won't be the same pageant as it was and will people watch. The number of people that watch this has went way down. I know I never watch it, probably still won't.

Think this will make things better or worse for them? Thoughts?

If it wasn't for the Sandra Bullock film Miss Congeniality, I'd have no idea this actually existed.

My only concern is that if people actually watch this, looks actually ARE important. Being too thin and too fat are bad images to imprint on children. Both represent unhealthy lifestyles that will impact multiple facets of their lives.

I don't know how they are not going to take looks into consideration. Even if they don't intend to I bet they still do. I guess they could have all blind judges.

I don't think they are going to call it a beauty pageant anymore.

I wonder if other pageants like Miss USA are going to drop swimsuit competitions?
