Microsoft to save Ford?

This is quite interesting:

Microsoft, Ford reportedly set to unveil wireless pact - Jan. 1, 2007

Apparently Microsoft and Ford are very close to announcing a partnership which would put advanced wireless technology in new Ford vehicles. With the new features, Ford users could download music, stream music, check email, take wireless VOIP calls, and do all sorts of things involving wireless communication.

Just imagine when WIFI is as widespread as radio. Where you can receive it from almost anywhere. I think once this happens then cars like this will be in even higher demand. I'd certainly want one.

That is interesting. I'd assume that they would try to make the user interface so that it wouldn't be too distracting for the driver.

I wonder how this will be affected in areas that have banned or possibly will ban cell phone use while driving?
