Have you ever been the victim of one of these?

I have, when I was a kid. I'm not sure what the rite is all about, except to have somebody flung sideways on into bushes, or pools or whatever. It's pretty zany when all's said and done, but nonetheless this activity exists... Or at least did.

Anyone have fond memories of this tiny, insignificant thing?

I did once here of a rather horrific story. Involving this activity, a foam pit at a leisure centre near where I live, and a broken neck being the end result. Pretty chilling.

Could be worse.

Could be tombstoning.

We used to play that all the time when we were kids  There was a grassy area where we played handstand games too.

Anyway, we used to gently set them down on their backs, but you can do it so they can land on their feet.
