Have you gone kiteboarding before? It looks pretty intense!

Looks a ton like wakeboarding but without the expense of a boat. How much do kites like that cost?

More importantly, what happens to your kite if you let go? Are you forced to slip a kite into your next grocery list or what?

It doesn't go anywhere. From what I saw in the videos, the kite is attacked to a belt that is around your waist, so that if you let go of the handle, you will not lose the kite. It will just hang from the belt until you are ready to grab the handle and kiteboard a little more.
