I've sort of been a hold out with various forms of social media for the last decade. I started with a Xanga account in like 2005, moved on to MySpace when everyone abandoned that, and then moved on to facebook when most people abandoned MySpace. I have not moved on from facebook yet, newer platforms just don't interest me and seem to have a very niche purpose and audience.
All kinds of new social media platforms have come out over the years. TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, Pinterest, I don't use any of them. Mostly it's because most of the people I know that use such platforms have severe maturity issues. Not a knock at all against the good people that use these platforms, they are out there. I would even venture to say most people that use these platforms are fine, I think I just know a few bad ones that put a bad taste in my mouth. The content on these platforms doesn't seem relevant to me and I'm already comfortable where I am, I don't see a need to move on to newer things at the moment. Not saying that won't ever change but I need less social media in my life, not more. Adding a new platform would be counter-productive in achieving that goal.
