I found out my neighbor of 16 years died today, and was terminally ill for a year

...and I had no idea.

I'm just taking it in at the moment.

His daughters actually used to babysit me when my family first moved in and yet somehow we lost contact after those years, even though we were only two houses down.

I feel incredibly guilty about this all.

Sorry, I need to vent.

More to come later.

That's really sad and I'm sorry. Why do you feel guilty though? There's nothing you could have done.

I feel guilty for not knowing, or even once asking how things were going.

I just let myself get preoccupied with my own things.

Are you going to the funeral? Maybe if you speak to some of his family it'll help you stop feeling that way.
