How To Pitch To Babe Ruth By Rogers Hornsby

Registered Member
World Series, Cards/Yanks, Sportsmans Park, as told by Card pitcher Flint Rhem.

First inning, Hornsby to the mound, "feed him slow stuff, nothing fast'', so I did.
Home run on top of the pavillion roof.

Babe's next at bat, Hornsby to the mound again, words to Rhem, " nothing fast, slow stuff he was just lucky last time."
I feed him slow stuff, home run, over the pavillion, over the double trolley car tracks on the far side of Grand Blvd.
Right fielder Billy Southworth, never moved, never took a step, just turned his head. "The ball was hit a mile, I think it's still going."

And that is how you pitch to Babe Ruth.
