How far do you see Facebook going?

Many Google employees are leaving Google to join Facebook. Facebook partnered with Microsoft to suggest Bing search results instead of Google's search results. There were talks suggesting that Skype could be integrated within Facebook and now there are talks of a Facebook email service. Facebook also beat Google as the most visited website in the US for an entire week. That is something that I would have never expected.

Anyway, I think that's a great idea!!! I LOVE Gmail but I'd be curious to see how FB's email will operate.

I think that facebook will be around for a long, long, time. Facebook is the only social site that is willing to adapt and now has the compacity to compete with Google. I doubt they will bring Google down but comepetion is always nice to have, because if Facebook does make these changes...How will google react?

So far Facebook has been more profitable that xanga or Myspace has, the owners and operators of the corporation have invested smart and expanded their network to meet everyone's needs on the internet. I feel like they have the capability to become a internet monopoly, that would be interesting if that played out.

I second this.

Myspace's problem was that it refused to adapt and it when they finally did, it was too late, they died. Not to mention the interface was crap.

Facebook is being proactive and constantly updating and "evolving."
And it actually worked great right from the get-go.

I had a MySpace...but kept getting messages as if it were a dating site (wtf??)
I have a FaceBook, but it is deactivated...and it stays that way 95% of the time.
I will log on to it maybe, once a month...maybe less even.
Too much crappus about Farmville, doesn't interest me in the least bit.
And all the people I care to talk to and keep in touch with, have my cell phone number, so I don't need FaceBook~

I'll be interested to see what they come up with to compete with Gmail. Even if whatever they create is better than gmail, it still might take a while to catch on.

An example would be facebook chat. That thing is so useless and glitchy they might as well not have it. I think the only reason they had it was just so they can say they have a messaging system.


But the facebook site isn't going anywhere. It's going to be pretty hard to beat as far as social networking sites go because they keep adapting to new needs and wants to its users.

I think google and facebook are two different things though. One is a search engine + other things while facebook is a social networking site. The only threat I see is that partnering with Bing.

There's no way Facebook is going anywhere for a lot of years. People are addicted to Facebook, and I don't see them losing a lot of "customers" anytime soon.

It's one of the most visited websites on the web I believe. At one point it was more popular then Porn, not sure if it still is. Facebook is here to stay.

Definitely many, many years to come! It won't die unless something really drastic happens within the actual website. I'm a facebook freak, it definitely takes up nearly ALL of my time I spend online lol!

Yeah, I love Facebook as well, but I'm sure the same thing was said about MySpace when it was at its peak. Now it's dead.
