According to this article on CNN: http://money.cnn.com/2005/10/04/technology/google_sun/?cnn=yes
Google and Sun Microsystems have partnered on at LEAST one venture. The Google toolbar will be bundled with Javascript version downloads, and other downloads off of Sun's website. A lot of people are speculating that this early partnership has more to it than meets the eye, but it's hard to say. Sun doesn't exactly need Google, and Google doesn't exactly need Sun.. BUT, together, there are a lot of things that would be possible.
Here's another spin on the partnership: http://www.site-reference.com/Search-Engines/11080/index.html
I think everybody talks about Google killing Microsoft a little too much. After all, Microsoft didn't get to where they are by being idiots and watching the competition pass them by.
