Florida's solar panel laws

FPL's lobbying wing has fought hard against letting Floridians power their own homes with solar panels. Thanks to power-company rules, it's impossible across Florida to simply buy a solar panel and power your individual home with it. You are instead legally mandated to connect your panels to your local electric grid.
Why Didn't FPL Do More to Prepare for Irma?

This is messed up, they won't even allow them to flip the switch to prevent feedback into the line during a storm like Irma while electric is off.

That is lobbyists for you. If you have a good enough lobby like the Florida Power Company, you can pretty much get anything legislated that you desire. In my opinion, this is another problem with our government. Lobbyists have too much power....
