Family of Florida boy killed by Neighborhood Watch seeks arrest - Yahoo! News

Neighborhood watch captain of a Florida gated community reports "suspicious" character in the area. Turns out to be a 17-year-old black kid armed with skittles and a drink. Kid, who was visiting his dad and stepmom, ends up dead with a single gunshot wound to his chest.

No charges for watch captain, yet.

I can't believe some people. This guy should definitely end up in jail for what he did, and why the heck did he shoot the guy? Because he looked suspicious? Idiotic.

I don't understand what was so suspicious about this kid. He should of waited for police, a neighborhood watch is exactly that, a watch. The man over reacted to the big time and should have to face criminal charges.

He was black, that's what was suspicious to the Watch Captain. I lived in Florida and it's still pretty racially divided by adults. When I was a freshman in high school down there, the second a white kid was seen talking to a black kid, teachers thought something illegal was going on and would follow them.

I really fucking hate that he hasn't been charged. I read about the 911 calls and he was INSTRUCTED to not confront him. he ignored that and killed a kid, it's disgusting.

That's possible but not much. Zimmerman is Hispanic and from a mixed-racial family and there's nothing that shows he was ever racist.
Trayvon Martin case: George Zimmerman?s father speaks out in defense of son - NY Daily News
But if racism is involved it's Hispanic vs Black not White vs Black.

Trayvon's gf said she heard shoes scuffling before she lost the phone connection so somebody obviously attacked or tried to stop someone.
The FBI and CIA are trying to oversee the investigation since they don't have any jurisdiction. And a lawyer on NBC news said it's gonna be tuff building a case cause it's too late to make a lot of important tests that shoulda been made when it happened.

To be totally honest, I don't get how they can call it self defense if Trayvon wasn't even armed. And why shoot him when he had the gun and all he needed to do - if he was that worried - was escort him out of the neighborhood?
Imo, Trayvon should have his gun license taken away and (hopefully) stand trial. If Zimmerman's life wasn't threatened then I have to call it murder.

Wait, Trayvon didn't have a gun nor license? That was Zimmerman. Zimmerman shot the boy because he thought he was suspicious where as Trayvon only had skittles and iced tea.

It sounds like they ended up in a scuffle. Zimmerman apparently got a bloody nose, and may have had minor bleeding on the back of his head. I don't think it was just because he was suspicious.

The fact that many people are racially divided doesn't mean everyone down there is. It's certainly a possibility, but you can't just jump to that conclusion.

He was advised not to by a dispatcher.

You can die from an unarmed attacker. All it takes is one hit.

It seems likely to me that Zimmerman acted illegally. But a lot of the stuff people are saying about him is just speculation, or flat out wrong.

Advised? Instructed? Does it really matter? In the end, he was told to stay back, he didn't, and a boy died. I don't see how the nitpicking really makes a difference here.

Not sure why the cops wouldn't have told this latest version of the story immediately in order to defuse things.

The most credible witness, the one who has stood up in public and the one who had to call police repeatedly to get them to listen to her version, the one in whose backyard the shooting occurred she says they were not in the midst of a struggle when the gun went off.

Where is my Queen?
I feel bad for the little boy, but something is missing big time here. Was there a scuffle? Did the boy attack him? Did the boy act like he was about to pull a gun out? Those 3 question are not factually answered. So I can't assume that Zimmerman did this out of cold blood, but it is a possiblility. Also, why is Zimmerman not in custody? Zimmerman might of had instructions, but if you got attacked, you would want to defend yourself right? There is so much stuff missing from this sad story, that I can't join either side on this. Not enough evidence or proof.
