Cutler get extension, Ahman Green to GB

Thought I'd put these two together since there's no need to make a thousand threads...

Bears agreed to terms with QB Jay Cutler on a two-year extension through 2013, including $30 million in "new" money and $20 million guaranteed.

It's essentially a new four and a half year deal (including what's left of 2009), and will come in at about $50M total. The numbers are quite favorable for the Bears, who at 3-2 with losses to only Atlanta and Green Bay on the road are smitten with Cutler's play. Cutler's completion rate is a career-high 64.0, and he's on pace to throw for 32 TDs and 3,844 yards. He has surpassed Matt Forte as the centerpiece of Chicago's offense while helping raw youngsters Johnny Knox, Devin Hester, and Earl Bennett become legitimate weapons
Packers signed RB Ahman Green.

Green signed a one-year deal with and will be on the practice field today, according to Packers beat writer Greg A. Bedard. Now that DeShawn Wynn (knee) is out for the season, Green is in. He won't threaten Ryan Grant's carries, but should quickly be a factor on third down in place of Brandon Jackson. Green last played with the Texans in 2008, picking up 294 yards and three touchdowns on 74 carries
Smart move for the Bears to lock up Cutler

Also makes sense for the Packers to get some depth at RB
