RVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys are considering signing suspended defensive tackle Tank Johnson.
"There is that possibility," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said on his weekly radio show Tuesday. "There's some sensitive things here regarding procedure that I won't get into right now, but to the extent that we've shown some interest in him, that's correct."
Johnson, who played the last three seasons for the Chicago Bears, can't play until the second half of the season because of an eight-game NFL suspension for violating probation on a gun charge. But he could provide late-season depth on a defensive line that lost starting nose tackle Jason Ferguson for the year because of a tore right biceps in the opener.

Cowboys spokesman Rich Dalrymple said Tuesday the team had no comment beyond what Jones said on his radio show. Phone messages left for Johnson's agent, Jerrold Colton, weren't returned.
There were numerous reports, including on the team's Web site, that the 25-year-old Johnson would visit the Cowboys on Tuesday for a physical and interview.
Since Johnson is suspended, such meetings would have to take place away from the team's Valley Ranch facility. If signed, Johnson wouldn't be able to work out with the team until his suspension ended, but the club would have to make room for him on the 53-man roster.
The Bears released Johnson on June 25, three days after he was pulled over by police in Arizona. He already had served a two-month jail term for the gun charge and been suspended by the NFL for violating the league's personal conduct policy.
Police in Gilbert, Ariz., closed the June case without charging Johnson, who was stopped for speeding. His blood alcohol level was under the presumptive limit for DUI in Arizona, when he was stopped.
Jay Ratliff, a third-year player, replaced Ferguson as the starting nose tackle. Ratliff has five tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery for the Cowboys (2-0).

This is one of the harder aspects of being an Eagles fan, watching division rivals sign players that the Eagles should've picked up/or resigned.

It's funny how they sign Tank a several days before the Cowboys play the Bears, maybe they'll ask him a few questions about the Bears, since he played for them last season.

He won't be able to play till week nine, but I still believe this is a good signing, especially if he can stay out of trouble. The Cowboys lost Ferguson which really hurts them, so maybe Tank will be able to help them when he'll be done serving his suspension.
