Man and his reflexes haven't changed much in the past 100 years. Baseball isn't a contact sport or a sport that requires endurance. The game has changed but any "change" in the quality of the players is more than covered by number of additional MLB teams and overall number of "additional" pro athletes needed to support "Pro" sports and other new found entertainment/athletic careers.

Maybe only relevant difference is that the fans of the past were better fans and the media and the players more honorable.
