CNN Thinks Racism is the "Ugliest Corner of the Internet"

Racist Obama image shines light on Web searching - CNN.com

(CNN) -- When a racist image of first lady Michelle Obama surfaced from the ugliest corners of the Internet last week to top Google's image search results, the episode shined a spotlight on the mysterious workings of search engines.

Google placed an ad near the image, apologizing for its offensive nature. But the company resisted calls to scrub the image from its database, saying its role as a neutral tool for searching the Web means having to live with the results, whether it likes them or not.

"We have a bias toward free expression," Google spokesman Scott Rubin told CNN. "That means that some ugly things will show up."
So GF, I ask you this.

Do you believe you have seen the worst the internet has to offer? What do you think are truly some of the worst things you've seen?

Please, no links and DO NOT Google any answers unless you are fine with NSFW material as many responses will most likely allude to.

The collective power of anonymous is pretty strong contender, though it also goes the other way.

When you take into account all the nasty images and brutal violent stuff that you can do a simple Google search on, racism is not that "ugly" in comparison to it.

Sometimes I wonder if the people who come up with these junk news articles have actually searched the internet outside of facebook and cuteoverload.

A Darker Knight
I don't think racism is as bad as some of the other stuff out there. I mean sure, racism isn't great, but compared to those body mutilations and strange fetishes, racism isn't much.

I think those 'shocker' pictures are the worst I've seen. Some may be weird, but only a few are actually disturbing. Sadly, I don't think I've even gone to the deep end of the internet's crap side of the pool, and I don't plan on it.

Hah, they think that's the ugliest thing on the internet.

Clearly they haven't seen...

Goatse, lemonparty, meatspin, 2girls1cup, any of /b/.. the list goes on and on.

Ms. Malone
Oh, the Michelle thing; it was on the news last week but i wasn't really listening, i forgot to look it up *looks*...oh, that's the fuss?

Would it be racist if it was somebody no one liked? Like Saddam, or Bin Laden?

There's worst things on the internet than that - like the decapitations that used to be on youtube; i think someone just made a little joke and it's been made a big deal out of.

Do What Thou Wilt
Actually, a while ago, their was a post of a suicide bomber who was sniped by a british sniper armed with an L107 AWSM...... in the head. Easily more ugly and brutal than a simple race joke

It's probably just hyperbole, and considering how bad racism is, I'd let it slide. I probably wouldn't have even noticed that phrase if you hadn't drawn attention to it.

Also, I'm pretty sure child porn is the worst (and no, I haven't seen any).

To say that's the darkest corner of the internet is like saying punching someone in the face is the worst crime you can commit.
