Just saw it tonight and had to share my thoughts that it was an awesome movie! It goes back to the old school ones by being not over the top and just being a great action movie. Daniel Craig does a great job portraying Bond and makes him actually seem human. If you're into James Bond films or even if you aren't, give this one a try, it'll blow you away.

I was blown away it's an awesome movie, and I would have to agree with you Daniel Craig does an amazing job protraying James Bond. I wasn't really a James Bond fan before, only seen a couple of Bond movies with Pierce playing him. But I would have to say this is the best one I've seen. It's 2:30 hours long, but it doesn't seem that long. I recommend everyone to go see if you like non-stop action packed movies.

Oh yeah that was one thing I forgot to mention, it does not feel like it's two and a half hours long. Brilliant movie and it shows you how he got some of the stuff he has (this is chronologically the first movie in the entire series BTW).

I'm very skeptical about this movie, despite the great things I am hearing about it.

First of all, I hate the idea of making it essentially a prequel. You have to understand that I am a HUGE Bond fan. I have seen every movie at least 5 times. So if there are inconsistencies (like Judi Dench playing M, despite the fact that M was a man until Goldeneye, advanced technology compared to the stuff that Bond had in Dr. No, ect.), I will be pretty displeased.

It may very well be an amazing movie, but I unfortunately will probably be watching with too much of a skeptical/analytical eye to fully enjoy it.

I wouldn't say really a prequel. I mean it's from the first book so it's just finally the first one being made lol.

I see what you're saying though but trust me this movie is great in every way. And I love the new James Bond. Daniel Craig is officially a badass.

    just saw it.

I went into this movie not having watched any of the earlier Bond movies except for about 30 minutes on TV a few years ago, and I still liked it. I had to come home and ask my dad about why it was a "beginning" for Bond afterwards, but it doesn't matter. It had great scenes, nice plot, and hot chicks. Good movie to me:D

The first Bond movie I saw was "You Only Live Twice". I've been a big Bond fan ever since then.

It's considered a revamping. Basically when this is done, it means you toss out everything that came before and start all over. "Batman Begins" did that. Tossed out all those "other" movies and started over.

This movie showed Bond's first mission. When he made two kills to become a "oo"- a license to kill. Legally. For all intents and purposes, all the previous Bond films don't exist. If you can't accept that premise, you'll have problems with this film.

Of course you had to suspend belief when Bond went from Connery to Lazenby to Connery again to Moore to Dalton to Brosnan. If all the stories are considered chronologically accurate, Bond would be 76 years old now!

I enjoyed it. It was gritty and current. Craig worked for me. I look forward to other movies with him as Bond.

I went in to this movie with rather low expectations, mainly because I felt Craig didn't fit a "Bond" type of stature.

    I was wrong.

The film was very good, it had some solid action and great acting. The only thing that's a bit disappointing is that there are no gadgets in this one.

I think that they really tried to make him look more real, because in the other Bond Movies he would get hit in the face or something and he didn't bleed, but in this movie you saw blood on his face, and then he had scars the next day which was very good. We know that Bond is a slick guy but they have to make him realistic as well. They started the movie so well, when Bond was chasing that guy, it was just amazing.

Wasn't that good? A Bond living by his wits and natural abilities.

No gadgets may've been a disappointment (unless you consider a defibilator in the glove box a "gadget") for those who're used to the previous Bonds. They have always tried to make the movies outlandish so they'd be entertaining. But every few years they have this idea to go back to "basics". For example, "On His Majesty's Secret Service" with George Lazenby (in his only appearance as Bond) was played straight. So was "For Your Eyes Only" with Roger Moore and "License to Kill" with Timothy Dalton. No outlandish gadgets. Bond is such a versatile character that he can be molded in many different variations. But if he hadn't been, he'd have never made it to 21 movies.
