We had meat rabbits back when I was a kid. We gave them the run of the 8.5 acre yard. When we were home. At night they'd all go back to the hutch we built them. They eventually dug a tunnel system out in the back bush though, and moved out there. Ended up reproducing and turning into wild rabbits haha. We never did get any rabbit stew. They had babies and the cats used to catch em thinking they were big mice. Eventually they either got hit by cars, or killed off by the numerous number of stray cats we were feeting. Our yard was mouse free though.
