Did you ever hear of the Bloody Mary legend as a child? For those of you who don't know the legend goes that if you chant Bloody Mary multiple times into a mirror of a dark room lit by a candle, she will appear in the mirror. Apparently she was a witch who was burned at the stake in medieval Europe.

I've heard people go as far as she will kill you or gouge your eyes out etc... some people claim that weird paranormal stuff will happen. The candle will go out, the lights will flicker, the room will get cold.

What do you think? Where I'm not a huge paranormal believer, as a teenager I would not chant Bloody Mary into the mirror. Nor would I today.

It's one of those things that always stuck with me.

When I was younger I was a huge believer in that sort of thing so I wouldn't. Even now, I'm not, but I have heard some weird stories about it. I could never do it even today.

I think about this from time to time when I'm in the bathroom at night and its dark, it runs through my mind, so its stuck with me too it seems!

I remember when the rumour went round about it at my school, everyone was obsessed with it, daring eachother to try. After a few days I got fed up of it and went in the girls changing rooms with another girl to try it (as a dare) but we didn't have a candle or anything because that wasn't part of what we'd heard. I guess it was slightly different, just had to be a dark room with a mirror. Anyways we couldn't quite bring ourselves to do it, I personally didn't believe it but we just burst in to nervous laughter everytime we started saying it. As far as we'd heard it went: "bloody mary, bloody mary, I killed your son" and she was suppose to appear behind you with a knife and stab you in the back. 100% BS but unfortunately I never got evidence to back that conclusion up :D

I'd never heard of the Bloody Mary mirror legend before now. When I was at Primary School, everyone used to do the Candyman mirror thing though.

Bloody Mary Is based on A real person, who had Vampiric problems. Her real name was Elizibeth BAthery, a countess who slaughtered servant girls and bathed in her blood.
I dont find it correct to nail the Lore down to just one person, especially considering Elizabeth Bathory already has her own Lore. Bloody Mary would be a completely other entity all on her own. If you had to dig into English Royalty you could look at Mary I of England who ruled between 6 July 1553 (de facto) until her death on 17 November 1558. She got the nickname "Bloody Mary" when she prosecuted over 300 Protestants during her Catholic rule. Her life was full of conflicts, starting from the divorce of her parents to the death of her mother, her mistreatment from the parliament, her miserable marriage, numerous miscarriages and finally she died of ovarian cancer.

The other one would be Mary Worth who was a witch that lived over 100 years ago who dabbled in the black arts. She was found out and executed.

Then there are the other stories of a mary who got in a car accident and her face was mutilated beyond repair...blah blah blah, either way what makes these kinds of superstitions fun is that they are so open ended. I dont believe its fair to the lore to make a definite conclusion that Bloody Mary = any 1 person.

I am such a pussy when it comes to these things. My friend just told me about it when I was little except he said it had to be totally dark. We didn't even try it, and I was seriously freaked out for the longest time. Even now I get uneasy when I pass by a mirror when it's dark. I know it's not real. I read the story behind it, but something about the combination of darkness and human imagination. It messes with you.

I could feel myself about to sweat when I watch pro's video. First time I was still scrolling through the comments so I missed a part. When I went and moved the bar thing, it landed right on the part where the ghost thing pops out. God damn it. :-/

I refused to watch the Candyman movies when I was younger, and till today I have yet to see any of them.

Back to Bloody Mary.

When I was younger, I would go to the bathroom. I'd say it twice and when I was about to say it the 3rd time I'd hurry up and turn the light on because I bitched out, haha.

There are many different Bloody Mary legends, as ice said you can't say it was just one person.
