Best practical car on the road?

Trust me, I'm The Doctor.
Going with my best truck thread I'd like to see what GF thought was the best all-around car on the road right now. I want you to keep price, history, reliability, and practicality in mind.

My vote goes to the Subaru Outback 2.5i. It has more than enough power, excellent cargo room, AWD, it's fun to drive, and it won't break the bank at 23k new. You can expect the car to last you well into 200k miles if you do the scheduled maintenance. I also like the aggressive styling.
