Always Watching

Time goes by, I dare not move
His face telling stories he does not speak
He grips my hands and whispers the words
“Life is short, and opportunities hard, I won’t be here forever”
The room goes silent except from our breathing
Without a word I feel him struggling for life
Leaning forward he asks me to get him a pen and paper
He writes a note, and folds it closed
“When ever you feel like you can’t go on, open that note, and know that it’s true”
Feigning a smile I whisper “Of course”
Kissing him on the head, his life finally slips away
The hours turn to days
And before I know what has happened
I stand before an open grave burying the man
Who dedicated his life to me
My hand in my pocket, I grip the note
Waiting for everyone to leave before opening it at his final resting place
Tears stream down my face as it reads
“My dear child, know, I will always be watching”

It almost seems in an instant that the world moves on
I fail to realize that it has been years since I last saw his face
In time I forget the man who dedicated his life to me
And carry on with my own, like only I could
What starts of as a fling with a woman at work
Turns into a love immeasurable by societies belief
I find my self waking each morning just to see her smile
Not long passes before we get the news we have been longing for
And as time passes, our child is born
The spitting image of a face that I can’t remember
I hold him in my arms and tell him that I will love him forever
Many years pass, and the love of my life has long fizzled away
But my son, I still and always will have
The only thing that gets me through the day
My body gets tired
And the doctors fear the worst
On a cold Saturday afternoon they tell me the news
With my son sat next to me they tell me I am going to die

Time goes by, he dare not move
My face telling stories, I will not speak
I grip his hand and whisper the words
“Life is short, and opportunities hard, I won’t be here for ever”
The room goes silent except from out breathing
Without a word he feels me struggling for life
Leaning forward I ask him to get me a pen and paper
I write a note, and fold it closed
“When ever you feel like you can’t go on, open that note, and know that it’s true”
Feigning a smile he whispers “Of course”
Kissing me on the head as my life finally slips away
The hours turn to days
And before he knows what has happened
He stands at an open grave, burying the man
Who dedicated his life to him
His hand in his pocket, he grips the note
Waiting for everyone to leave before opening it at my final resting place
Tears stream down his face as it reads
“My dear child, know, I will always be watching”

I'll Be...

I'll be the name behind the face you never see
The warmth in your eye's that'll last for eternity
A skip in the beat of your heart so pure
The waves caressing your feet at the shore

I'll be the invisible kiss on your forehead at night
The star that makes the night shine so bright
A Christmas wish that comes through every year
The finger tips wiping away all your tears

I'll be behind every time you hear I love you
Holding you at night when no one has the time to
A foot print in the dirt you see each mile
The hidden secret behind your smile

I'll be the birds singing in every tree
The last leaf in autumn you ever see
An eagle in the sky protecting your path
The faded reflection when looking through the glass

I'll be the ghost who holds your hand at the grave
The one you'll never realised you saved
A candle in the tunnel so you can find the light
The only wrong in your life that's right

I'll be the one you never gave a chance too
The desperate fool who did nothing but love you
A hint of snow showering you with affection
And the one who disappeared without detection

Captivated future, my present, my pain
The eyes of an eagle, this hours disdain
Trauma in thinking, away from the sheep
These days are passing, in moments I’m weak

The ritual is Satanic, of a darkened theme
Only a true vampire will know what I mean

Packs of wolves, with a leader to follow
The lies you tell, make it harder to swallow
Gasping for breath, in a room full of air
Closing my eyes, cause this canvas to bare

Physic vampires, on my thoughts you feast
The cries of the living, you’re never to cease
Nothing can stop, this pain that I feel
Only your words, seem to make it more real

Physic vampires, on my thoughts you feast
The cries of the living, you’re never to cease
Nothing can stop, this pain that I feel
Only your words, they give me such a thrill

Honourable mention, you don’t deserve even that
The skies that follow, turns from grey to black
Movement in shadows, can you see in the dark
The wolves, their changing from a snarl to a bark
Your Achilles heel, they know it too well
It was the scent they where given, upon leaving Hell
Raising an arm, trying to hold out a hand
Maybe in the next life you might understand

Our ritual is Satanic, of a darkened theme
Only a true vampire will know what I mean

Physic vampires, on my thoughts you feast
The cries of the living, you’re never to cease
Nothing can stop, this pain that I feel
Only your words, seem to make it more real

Physic vampires, on my thoughts you feast
The cries of the living, you’re never to cease
Nothing can stop, this pain that I feel
Only your words, they give me such a thrill

A message from Grand Daddy to son to grand child. That's how I understand the poem "Always Watching." Interesting...
