6 Incredible Movie Trailer Recuts That Will Change How You Watch These Classic Films

Movie trailers are supposed to show you what to expect when you watch the film, but what if a trailer didn’t represent the movie at all? In fact, what if it misrepresented it so much that you thought you were about to see a thriller and instead ended up seeing a stupid comedy or if you were expecting a heartwarming family drama instead of a downright scary horror movie? Here are six of the best recut movie trailers on the Internet. Enjoy!

6. “Dumb & Dumber” Recut As A Thriller (2.8m views)

Lloyd Christmas wasn’t completely turned down by the beautiful Mary “Samsonite” Swanson, but he was given a mere one in a million odds of getting with her. What if instead of stupidly (albeit harmlessly) bumbling his way through the rest of movie trying to win her heart, he turned out to be a psychopath hellbent on beating those odds? Forget Dumb & Dumber To, we want this movie instead. (FULL DISCLOSURE: I made this one myself, so I’m a bit biased! I still believe it deserves a spot on this list though.)

5. “Mrs. Doubtfire” Recut As A Horror Movie (1.8m views)

Before he was Seymour Parrish in the horror movie One Hour Photo, Robin Williams played the family man who would stop at nothing to stay a part of his kid’s lives. But what if he hadn’t been so lovable? What if he would truly stop at nothing? The movie may have turned out slightly different.

4. “The Notebook” Recut As A Thriller (700k views)

The next time your girlfriend asks you to watch The Notebook with her, maybe you should see if you can get your hands on this version of it instead. It’s amazing what a simple change of music and editing can do to make a classic chick flick like this look quite tolerable.

3. “Marry Poppins” Recut As A Horror Movie (14.9m views)

Just a spoon full of sugar makes the medicine go down. Or, you could just force it against the person’s will. This creepy Marry Poppins teaser style trailer shows how the movie could have been if Marry Poppins used her magic for evil instead of good.

2. The Lion King Rises (4m views)

In this twist on the mashup genre, the creator used the audio from The Dark Knight Rises trailer, including vocals, and cut it to footage from The Lion King. Scar was already a bit dark for a kids movie, but Scar with Bane’s voice takes the film to a new level.

1. “The Shining Recut” As A Romantic Comedy (3.3m views)

What if, instead of going off the deep end, Jack Torrance was just another family man looking to make it as a writer? Who knew Stephen King could write such a heartwarming tale to watch with your kids on family night, right? If you saw this trailer, you might have done just that… And you’d have been so wrong for doing so.
